Our wine area can be divided into three large sections:
the Parndorfer Plateau, Wagram, and Heideboden
The Parndorfer Plateau is located directly above Wagram. It
comprises an approximately ten meter thick layer of gravel interspersed
with loess. The soil is well drained, yet has the capacity to
retain moisture.
Vineyards: Reitäcker, Holzacker, Herrschaftswald
On the terrace
of Wagram the tertiary layer of sand and clay soils surfaces
from under the gravel. The best vineyards for
the late ripening grape varieties that need plenty of sun are
found on the southwesterly terrace boundary: Ungerberg, Salzberg,
Schafleiten, Kurzberg, Goldberg, Altenberg , Spiegel, and Gabarinza
The Heideboden is the level below Wagram stretching towards
the lake. The soils vary from loess to calcareous loam to meager
gravel.
