Schafleiten:
We cultivate two parcels in the Schafleiten vineyard. One parcel
is located just 100 m behind the terrace border of Wagram and
is separated from the Salzberg vineyard by a small path. This
vineyard slopes in all directions, making it ideal for the frost-sensitive
Syrah.
The second parcel is located in the middle of the vineyard
and is southeast facing. This is planted with Blauburgunder
(Pinot noir).
Reitäcker:
The topsoil of this vineyard is a bit gravelly, well-drained,
and warms up well under the sun. The subsoil consists of loess
with clay components which are able to retain moisture. For this
reason we grubbed up the Welschriesling after the last harvest
of Trockenbeerenauslese in 2002 and planted it with Merlot. The
first harvest from these new vines is expected in 2005.
