History
The Leitner winery has been family owned for generations. Matthias
and Melitta Leitner took over the winery in 1975 and operated
it as a second income until 1990. The new orientation towards
quality production and estate bottling began in the 1980’s.
The first national and international recognition of 1985 acknowledged
the success of our quality strategy. The next big turning point
was when Matthias gave up his profession as traveling salesman
to dedicate himself completely to the winery. During these years,
the vineyard area increased to 10.5 hectares.
Gernot Leitner
began working full-time in the winery on January 1, 2003.
Our winery is a member of the PANNOBILE-Group.
Philosophy
The core of our philosophy is to strive towards the production
of wines of character that reflect their terroir and the highest
possible quality. We work environmentally friendly in our vineyards
to achieve this. We handle what nature gives us with utmost
care and precision from the vineyard to the bottle.
